Background
Connecting minds and shaping perspectives
The Western Cape has quietly become one of the most active nodes in Africa’s emerging space economy. From satellite engineering and payload development to earth observation applications and data services, the Somerset West–Stellenbosch corridor has developed into a recognised hub for space technology companies and research capability.
At the same time, South Africa continues to play an important role in the continent’s space ambitions through the work of the South African National Space Agency and a growing private-sector ecosystem operating across the upstream and downstream value chain.

About
The Space Industry Forum aims to create a constructive platform where industry can collaborate, exchange insights, and engage collectively with policymakers and space agencies.
The intention is to strengthen alignment between industry capability and national priorities, while providing a forum through which the sector can contribute to - and encourage accountability toward - South Africa’s space policy frameworks, continental ambitions such as African Union Agenda 2063, and the broader goal of building a sustainable African space economy.
